One thing that Drew and I like to do is explore LA like we don’t live here. Because we claim this as a hobby, it legalizes some of the cheesiest site-seeing activities that you usually only do while sporting a fanny pack and visor, one of which being going to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum on Hollywood Boulevard.

Tickets to this tourist trap usually cost $30 per person, but thanks to the Jimmy Kimmel goody bag we got from watching the Live After the Oscars Show with him, you can read that post here, we scored 2 free tickets! We decided to go to Madame Tussaud’s at about 5pm, we had dinner reservation’s at Eva Longoria‘s nearby restaurant, Beso, at 7:30.
When we got there we were appropriately greeted by a wax statue of Joan Rivers and then guided to take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Once the elevator doors opened, which were decorated to look like red-velvet stage curtains, we were blown away/sort of freaked out by how real all of the statues looked! We were instantly chilling with George Clooney, Conan O’Brien, Jennifer Aniston, Simon Cowell and Rihanna.

It almost felt wrong to stare at them so closely and you know people have totally taken pictures picking their noses, to say the least. There are actually stories about live celebrities posing as wax figures here! Could you imagine, your about to kiss Leo DiCaprio‘s cheek and he comes to life! Swoon.

The 3rd floor is full of current- day pop stars and big name celebrities. Some of the wax figures look spot on, while others, like poor Bieber look like they could use a burger and a day in the sun.

The 2nd floor is full of Hollywood Icons like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Elizabeth Taylor, Clarke Gable, Audrey Hepburn and more. It was so interesting to learn about some of the classic stars, like Marlon Brando and Bette Davis, that we had always heard of but never really knew much about. Each wax figure had a plaque with a famous quote, short biography and list of movies and famous moments from their outstanding careers.

The 1st and last floor of Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Hollywood features famous directors, sport's stars and movie characters, like ET and Forrest Gump.
Overall, we had a blast. It way exceeded expectations and I think we would have stayed longer if we didn't have dinner reservations. I would set aside 2 hours for this attraction.

Oh, and Beso was delicious! We each got 2 appetizers. Drew had the Crab Cakes and Shrimp and Chorizo Flatbread, while I had the Truffled Mac and Cheese and Chicken Quesadilla. Everything was so delicately made, and though the portions were not huge, we were both fully satisfied. For dessert we shared a surprisingly light and airy Fried Banana Split in celebration of my 25th Birthday. You can see the menu here. It was a perfect ending to a fantastic day.
