Engagement Photos Round 2! Sunset Beach
Our engagement photo extravaganza continues with these beautiful captures taken by our incredibly talented friend and neighbor, Jodi Jacobs. Jodi has lived next door to us for 3 years and can most often be found, especially during the “magic hour,” behind the lens of her 5D Mark III, one of the best cameras in the biz. Jodi is also a producer, writer, actress and, among other things, can whip up ANY beverage your dancing heart desires! Trust me, I have celebrated all of my West Coast birthdays with her and the only thing I can remember is that they were all wonderful.
For this shoot, Jodi took us along the golden, sun-kissed coast of Sunset Beach in Surf City, and used her 50mm lens, also known as a “Nifty Fifty,” an absolute favorite for intimate photos and portraits, to capture this sweet day:
She made it so easy for us to enjoy our moments, capturing our glowing smiles and everything in between:
We especially loved being able to sit and enjoy the transformation of the day, with the sand beneath us, the ocean at our feet and and sun’s golden rays on our faces, it was as if all of time had stopped moving.
And while time may have stopped, the wind certainly hadn’t..!
Luckily, Drew was there to save the day.
As the sun sank deeper, the colors grew brighter and we began to understand why this spot was dubbed with such a name as “Sunset Beach:”
Thank you Jodi for such a sweet story to add to our collection and beautiful, sun-kissed photos. We will forever associate you with SoCal sunsets and my birthday <3
If you would like to get in touch with Jodi to schedule a photo shoot of your own please reach out to her on her contact page.
Tips for beach photos:
Wear a flowy dress that will billow in the wind.
Don’t worry about your hair, wear it down and let it do what it does best – be wild.
Shoes= no shoes. Just flip flops for before and after.
Bring a blanket to lay all your things/gear on.
Be prepared to be splashed by the ocean and enjoy it!
Bottle of water or… bottle of champagne? Your call!
Keep it simple and natural, after all your love is the centerpiece and the sunset is the perfect frame.
