Moving Into Our Tiny House On Wheels!
I am so excited to finally be able to write this post. After months and months of preparation, we have finally begun our BIG JOURNEY, in our tiny house (on wheels)! 2 days in and we have already started to realize how much this will require us to work together as a team, if our relationship can survive this trip, then we will have more than enough reasons and incredible memories to say, “I do.”
So how do you even prepare for a trip like this? Well, after saving as much money as we could while working in LA and consolidating our belongings aka. selling them on Craigslist and donating them to friends, the final step was gathering up the courage to go against the grain and have faith in the road ahead. As our departure day approached we each took on different tasks. Drew made sure our adventure mobile was in perfect working condition, while I went to Costco and scooped up the essentials. We designed magnetic signs for the side of the van (coming soon!) and went through our clothes, trying to pick enough to last us for 10 months, and don’t forget, we have flights for Iceland and are keen on driving to Alaska, so we have a lot of scarves and mittens that we need to stuff in to our 3 cubby holes! Below you’ll see Angel, the kitty, who was hoping to make the cut too:
But how do you get wifi and power while you’re on the road? Excellent question! Well, we have a converter that allows us to plug our laptops into the cigarette lighter hole, and we also have a similar plug with 2 USB ports that we can use to charge our phones. We paid to have hot spot capabilities on one of our phones so we can web surf and reach out to companies we want to work with. We have noticed that the charging speed is wayyyy slower in the van, which has been the only inconvenience. Otherwise, we find cool cafes with free wifi, like CocoNUTS Coffee in Key West!:
Now what? Well, for now it’s a week in The Keys, and then we go where the wind, and warm weather, blows us! And if you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe and join us as we discover new lands and life lessons, together!
