I am sure you have all heard of the website called Meetup.com, just in case you haven’t, it’s a place where people interested in a particular something can go and find other people, in their local area, who are interested in that same particular something, & well, meetup! No matter how odd or specific, there is seriously a group for everyone. Some of the most unique ones I have seen include the Silent Sitting Group and the Hipnotica Hoopers for expert hoola hoopers… I kinda wanna go to that one.

Being that I moved to LA a little over a year ago, I thought it would be a great idea to join a couple meetups and expand my horizons. A few that I am currently a member of include: Santa Monica CreativesLA Person of Leisure AdventuresLos Angeles Writers & Book Self-Publishing CaféTEDx Santa MonicaWest LA Hiking & Mountaineering Vicki Abelson’s Renowned Celebrity-Driven Literary Salon. I have been receiving emails about recent and upcoming events, but have yet to get myself to go to one, you know how that can be sometimes. And then, THEN, Vicki Abelson’s Renowned Celebrity-Driven Literary Salon decided to host a meetup with Stephen Collins, the dad from 7th Heaven! as the special guest speaker! I had to pay to attend this meetup (which some meetups will ask for sometimes), but I figured this was a once in a lifetime chance, so I coughed up the $20 & went!

I was blown away by the friendliness of the other group members and the quality of the speakers. The host, Vicki Abelson, was completely hilarious, the food was great and the environment was very comfortable. We had a special musical performance by Christian Nesmith & Circe Link, along with a taste of Sue Costello's heart-warming and ab-defining comedic act, and for the grand finale, Stephen Collins spoke about his personal experiences in the world of acting, more specifically his book entitled "women he has kissed for money." He spoke of  his experience kissing Farrah Faucet on the set of Charlie's Angels, kissing Diane Keaton in a number of movies, noted that his most incredible kiss, to this day, was with Bette Midler (gasp!), and also touched upon what a dream it was to work closely with Miss Anne Margret.

I had a lovely experience and definitely give this Meetup 2 thumbs way up! You can watch the video from the event here, and click here to read my post about the time I attended with Kevin Pollack as the special guest!
