This year’s Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Oscars marked JKL’s most-watched post-Oscar telecast in the franchise’s history! Being a part of this show’s live studio audience was an incredible experience, one that both Drew and I would hope to be a part of again next year. One might even say they treated us like stars.

How did we get to be a part of this you ask? Well, we went to 1iota just 2 days before the actual taping and signed up online. We must have gotten extremely lucky because tickets to this show are HIGHLY sought after and we definitely did not sign up early. In the future I would recommend one to sign up at least 2 weeks prior to the Oscars, just to be safe, but if you find yourself reading this just 2 days before the Oscars… sign up anyway! It worked for us! At 8:30pm, the night after we signed up on 1iota, I received an email saying that I was approved for 2 tickets! So we cancelled our other Oscar watching plans and prepared to truly be a part of the MOST exciting and glamorous night in Hollywood!

The ticket’s advised us to arrive to the specified parking lot by 5pm, at which time the special Jimmy Kimmel shuttle buses would be driving us over to the studio. With Hollywood Boulevard being closed for the event, the parking lot was quite a ways away, so the shuttle buses were the perfect solution. We arrived at 3:30pm to ensure good placement in line (and good seats in the studio), parking was free for all ticket holders (score!) and they kept us entertained by having us fill out Oscar ballots while we waited in line- prizes for 1st (iPad mini), 2nd & 3rd place ($150 Visa gift cards).

At about 5:30pm the fleet of shuttle buses arrived and within 5 minutes everyone was on board and off to Jimmy’s Studio. They seated us all in order of arrival, we were about 40th inline, and were placed in the 2nd row. AWESOME seats. They had the Oscars playing on multiple big screen TV’s for everyone’s viewing pleasure, and with the studio’s surround sound and the Jimmy Kimmel crew hanging out with us, I couldn’t think of a better way to enjoy the evening. But wait, it gets better! They had dinner catered for us. With a choice of turkey, roast beef or grilled vegetable focaccia, with a side of pesto penne, a brownie and any drink (though non-alcoholic), we were set!

It wasn’t until 9pm that special guests, Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum arrived, and man were they special! After Jamie expressed his desire to Channing all over Channing’s Tatum… Channing came over to the audience and proceeded to dance all over those in the front row! That alone would make anyone get in line by 10am to ensure front row seats! Between takes Jimmy would come over and speak to various members of the audience, cracking his lighting fast jokes as usual. They even had us audience members put on a talent show to help kill some behind the scenes time. I did a headstand on Jimmy’s stage, thank God for tube dresses that don’t fall down! Everyone who participated got an exclusive Jimmy Kimmel shirt, new fave.

Another memorable part of the evening was watching the world premiere trailer for “Movie: The Movie Twovie,” starring Bradley Cooper, Jessica Chastain, Jude Law, Salma Hayek, John Krasinski, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruno Mars and, as Jimmy stated, “even that jerk Matt Damon.” It was wonderfully ridiculous and hardly made any sense, in perfect contrast to the Oscars.

By 11pm the show was over, the fun had been had and they prepared to load us back into the shuttles to take us to our cars. One thing to note was that 5 minutes into the show, the producers ended up asking the couple next to us to leave because, get this, they weren’t clapping! They were seated smack dab in the center of the 2nd row and didn’t have an ounce of clap in them. They replaced them with 2 sweet girls, who were seated in the far back corner, to take their place. So learn from their mistake, if you take the time to be a part of a live studio audience, especially on Oscar night, clap with everything you have!

Oh and I almost forgot! They had goody bags for everyone 🙂 Jimmy Kimmel mints, mini bottles of Kettle One vodka, DVD of “Trouble with the Curve,” Stila eyeliner (Drew gave me his lol), free passes to Equinox, coupons to Napa wineries and Pop Chips! Not quite as flashy as the actual Oscar goody bags, no “vampire facelifts,” (weird) but hey, not too shabby!
